What many people may not realize is that Norman Rockwell meticulously staged photos as reference material for his illustrations. NPR’s Weekend Edition Sunday recently did a story featuring some of the photographers and models that Norman Rockwell used for the photos along with a gallery featuring side-by-side comparisons. A book featuring these photos “Norman Rockwell: Behind the Camera” by Ron Schick, was recently published. A companion exhibition is currently on display at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA and will be up through May 31st, 2010. via Laughingsquid
