I have been trying to get tickets to the Street of Eames tour for the past 3 years. Since they can only sell 1000 tickets they sell out fast (very fast). But now you can get your Street of Eames Tickets before anyone else and help a good cause in the process. beginning Oct. 15, individuals interested in making a tax-deductible donation of $150 to Project Return/Chapman Foundation can purchase two $50 tickets for a total of $250.  Buy tickets.

For when you want that giraffe tattoo, but you’re just not ready to commit.

This is pretty cool. Have you ever wanted to call someone to translate important information but didn’t want to actually talk to them? Have you ever called someone praying that the other end doesn’t pick up? You don’t want a hello, you want their voicemail so you can say your piece, get to the point, and be done with it. Welcome to Slydial. Just punch in their number (267-759-3425) - wait for the recording and then punch in the number you want to leave a voicemail. It’s free, easy and works great.

I have been a HUGE fan of Dick’s in Seattle (yes Seattle) and it breaks my artery cloged heart when I think how badly Portland needs a good cheap burger joint . Would someone PLEASE! Lease this old burger shack on Hawthorne Blv. and turn it into a place were Portlander’s can get a burger for $1.20. Sure- It’s the devils food but sometimes it’s the only thing that hits the spot. Portland NEEDS a place like Dick’s.

This would be great if you were on vacation and didn’t know how to get back to your hotel or your group. If you’re prone to getting lost, maybe it’s time for a personal GPS device. The Bushnell BackTrack ($60) is a pocket-size, less-is-more gadget that provides a fool proof way for finding your way back to any location. Combining GPS technology and a digital compass, the weather resistant BackTrack features just two buttons and simplified user interface, and can store and find up to three locations. Once a location is recorded (car at the mall, hotel room in Vegas, etc.), all it takes is just the push of a button to navigate back to where you started.

This made me laugh. For sale here.

20th Century Fox is fast-tracking the production of a modern-day follow up to the 1987 Oliver Stone directed film. The story, which will be set during the current credit crisis, will see Gekko emerge back into the financial world after serving time in prison. Link

 plastic_bag.jpg

So Sam Adams wants to place a ban on plastic bags in the Portland area. I’m one of those people who ALWAYS forgets to bring in my tote bag into the store so I think it’s a good idea to not give forgetful people (like myself) the option to use plastic. San Francisco did this ban last year and the general feeling for the movement has been positive. My new pal Lisa Libby is heading up the movement for Sam. If you have time give her a shout and let her know you are for the change. I’m sure she would appreciate it.

On a side note my real estate agent Tina Schafer passed along a great little online demo of what those bags do to all of us. It’s worth a look

trumpet.JPG

I found a post by Kab on Good Stuff NW asking for the story behind “The Trumpet Guy“. I have seen him for years out in the freezing cold and driving rain so I wanted to know as well. I was surprised to find NOTHING on Google about him so I thought I would ask YOU (OK- you and the thousands of people who get this email). If you know something - post something and let us know so I can get to the bottom of this. I’ll do the same next time I see him.
