Matt Gross did a great story in The New York Times on the frugality of Portlanders. I think the article paints a very positive and accurate picture of what the city has to offer.

Lately I have been approached by a few students who are looking for (unpaid) summer internships. Most of them are looking to build their resume by working with a local advertising agency or design shop. Please let me know if you could use an eager young student to help out around the agency. You never know - one day they may hire you to work at their company.

Last week we found ourselves at a new Sushi bar Sushi Mazi in our hood. This small Sushi bar is run by a couple of NY transplants who know their sushi inside and out. And yes - they serve grasshopper, and no - it doesn’t taste like chicken. If you are brave enough to eat one, they will take your picture and put it up on their wall of fame. When you go, try to sit at the bar. The owners are very friendly and love to tell you all the nuances of great sushi.

Spent an evening at the Common Ground Wellness Center over on 33rd and Alberta. It was very relaxing. They offer a wide range of “healing arts” including massage, acupuncture, energy work and naturopathic medicine as well as a dry cedar sauna ! Good place to remember the next time you want to get your massage on!
